Happy birthday, Mr. Lincoln

Happy birthday, Mr. Lincoln!

Much of my painting lately has include caricature, so I am happy to present this one to those interested in this site.

I tried to construct a portrait that was fairly close to realistic and without too much distortion for my birthday tribute to Mr. Lincoln. But the body, of course, is very much in the caricature mode.

This watercolor was begun this morning (Feb. 12, 2018) in our art group at church and finished off this afternoon. I wasn’t going to a realistic skin tone but decided instead to come close and then add the colors that might create some fun for the viewers.

So, here we are.

Happy birthday, Mr. Lincoln!

(Where are you when we really need you?)
