The week’s best giveaways; Battlelines, 5 volumes, now available

July 10, 2017 | By Jim Stovall | Filed in: Battlelines, Battlelines: Road to Gettysburg, books, Kill the Quarterback.

Hi there,

I hope that you have had a good week.

This week’s best book giveaway (and one in which I am involved with Kill the Quarterback) is Thrillers, Killers and Chillers. There are 21 of us authors offering some very good book — and they’re all free downloads, of course. In addition, there’s an another I’d like to recommend: Harry Bingham and his Fiona Griffiths series. You can get a short story, Night Beat, that is a prequel to the series at this Instafreebie link.

Civil War combat art

The American Civil War continues to fascinate many readers, especially during this first week in July, which is the anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg. If you know someone who is a Civil War buff, you might forward this information to that person:

All five volumes of my Battlelines: Gettysburg series on the art of Civil War battlefield sketch artists are now up and available on Amazon and other venues. On Amazon, the first volume, Battlelines: Road to Gettysburg, is free. The other volumes are $0.99 or $1.99:

Favorite mystery/thriller author?

More responses to my question about who is your favorite mystery/thriller writer:

  • Al (in Canada): Lee Child, David Balducci, Dean Koontz
  • Bob: First my favorite mystery/thriller author is Lee Child. Any of the Jack Reacher books qualify as a favorite.
  • Ruth: My most favorite writers among hundreds are John Grisham and David Baldacci. Just finished both of their newest ones this month – Grisham’s ‘Camino Island’ and Baldacci’s ‘The Fix’ are of far their best works. I share my opinions with my youngest child and we both agree.
  • Sylvia: I really like the Alex Cross and Michael Bennett books by James Patterson.
  • Beverlee: James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club, Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone series aka the alpahbet series. Just to name a few. I have many.

I’d still like to know: Who is your favorite mystery/thriller writer?

Down on the farm . . .

I bought a tractor a couple of weeks ago, and I have been getting the feel of it ever since. I haven’t done too much damage with it so far, but as the British say, “It’s early days yet.” Here’s a photo (garden and beehives in the background) taken by my wife.

Have a great weekend.
