The Digital Journalism 101 course project seeks to offer schools and teachers a complete journalism curriculum that is tailored to today's media and journalism structure and to the needs of your students.
Digital Journalism 101 is divided into more than 100 self-contained modules that can used by instructors in whatever order is suitable to their teaching needs. (You can view the tentative outline here.)
Digital Journalism 101, which is still under development, may take several forms. The text, learning exercises and images may be bound as a traditional textbook.
A web site will contain some of the additional learning exercises, questions for discussions and links to other information. There will also be videos related to various modules of the text.
There may also be an ebook that will be easy and inexpensive for your schools system and your students to download. This ebook will be designed specifically for the new class of e-readers (such as Apple's iPad) that are beginning to come on the market.
No matter what form it takes, the material of Digital Journalism 101 will be interesting and informative and will enhance your students' learning experience. It will be dynamic, and unlike traditional texts, it will change often with developments in the field.
The major developers of the Digital Journalism 101 project are Dr. Lilly Fears, professor of journalism at Arkansas State University, and Dr. Jim Stovall of the University of Tennessee. Edgenics.com is the initiator of the Digital Journalism 101 project.
